This particular surcoat is characterized with details such as gold and silver braids decorating the black cloth, scarlet mountain shapes designed at the hems, and a delicate sawing technique known as “kiribame”, which makes the seam virtually invisible. There is a remnant of frills that used to decorate its collar, which indicates the so-called Nanban style elements that was popular during the Momoyama period.
