The “DATE Culture” Fostered by Masamune
26 Kinoshita and Yakushido hall
Yakushido hall was rebuilt by Masamune in 1607. On the side of Junteikannondo hall (rebuilt in 1719), there are monuments, including the one that commemorates OOYODO Michikaze (built in 1722), whom MATSUO Basho paid visit to his residence in the Sendai castle town, as well as Basho’s haiku monument (1782). These were added to the list of the National Places of Scenic Beauty in 2015.
