43 Hote-matsuri / Hana-matsuri at Shiogama-jinja (Shinto shrine)
Hote-matsuri(ritual) takes place on March 10th every year, and originally started i n 1682. Hana-matsuri(ritual) takes place on the fourth Sunday of April every year, and origi nally started in 1778. Both ritual originated as ritual for “Ujiko”(the local people who have faith in the particular “jinja”), under the permission of the Sendai domain.A “Mikoshi” that weighs over one ton travels across the area. This ritual developed to be the representative events of the Shiogama area with the times.
